South Africa Launches First Mpumalanga Skills Development Zone

On 29 October, the Department of Higher Education and Training launched the Mpumalanga Skills Development Zone in partnership with the provincial government. The initiative brings together colleges, employers, government and development partners to align training with local economic needs, particularly in energy, mining and manufacturing. It is the first of three planned zones; no total programme budget was announced. Government agencies, education institutions and development partners can explore opportunities in programme monitoring, skills data and digital administration.
